Adapting to the new demand of agriculture and constructing the innovation system of fertilizer field in China—Academician consulting report of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

  • Through the investigation of the project, problems existed in China’s fertilizer products technology and policy system are summed up under the new agriculture situation, such as fertilizer products could not meet the agricultural demand, technology integration could not meet the demand of agricultural modernization; fertilizer manage mechanism is not conducive to transformation of science technology and products; technical services supply capacity does not match the demand; and management policy constraints. The solution is constructing China’s fertilizer innovation system by fertilizer product innovation, technological innovation, organic substitution, precision fertilization, system and mechanism innovation, improvement of policies and regulations etc. Specific proposals are as follows: build a new agricultural demand-oriented national fertilizer product system, promoting agriculture high yield, soil fertility and sustainable utilization of resources and environmental protection coordinated development; strengthen the efficient utilization of organic fertilizer resources, promote the organic fertilizer substitution and reduction; strengthen the construction of fertilization technology service ability; strengthen basic research and frontier exploration in the field of fertilizer science; strengthen the construction of national green fertilizer system; recommending that the state set up major science and technology special fertilizer programs to provide strong support and guarantee for the implementation of the above recommendations.
