Effects of phosphorus and potassium on some physiological and biochemical properties of barley under waterlogging stress

  • A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of phosphorus and potassium on some physiological and biochemical properties of barley under waterlogging stress. The results showed that waterlogging greatly reduced chlorophyll content, photosynthetic rate, leaf and root superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity; and remarkably increased leaf free proline content, root plasmamembrane permeability, leaf and root MDA content. Phosphorus and potassium could alleviate some of the adverse effects of waterlogging.
