The promoting effect of monosodium glutamate wastewater combined with microorganism inoculant on tomato growth in medium culture

  • The effects of different growth media with and without inoculating microorganism inoculant(associated nitrogen fixing bacteria W12) and different nutrient solutions,i.e.pH adjusted monosodium glutamate wastewater diluted 30 fold, inorganic nutrient solution and tap water,on the nitrogen content and dry weight of tomato roots, shoots and leaves, yield factors,SPAD values of functional leaves,pH and electrical conductivity(EC) of culture media were studied using pot culture with randomized blocks design. The results showed that the nitrogen contents of tomato shoots and leaves were significantly increased and the pH and EC of media were also moderately improved by inoculating W12.The nitrogen contents of tomato roots, shoots and leaves, yield factors and SPAD values are significantly increased by applying the monosodium glutamate wastewater, which contained plenty of organic and inorganic nutrients even though it was a difficult disposing pollution resource.Furthermore the positive interaction was found between monosodium glutamate wastewater and W12 on the nitrogen contents in tomato shoots.Obviously, applying monosodium glutamate wastewater combined with inoculating W12,could increase nitrogen content in tomato tissues, improve the yield and reduce the cost, through which the problem of disposing monosodium glutamate wastewater may be solved to some extent.Being a plant nutrition source should be a promising way to recycling utilization of monosodium glutamate wastewater.
