Effects of single basal application of controlled-release fertilizers on growth and yield of rice

  • Pot trials were conducted in 2002 and 2003 consecutively to investigate the effects of single basal application of three domestic controlled-release fertilizers(CRFs) on growth and yield of rice.It was showed that tillering dynamics(under) the treatment of the three CRF,single basal of application of Nongke controlled-release fertilizer(BNCRF),controlled-release fertilizer with NH4MgPO4 coated(BLCRF) and blend fertilizer with resin coated urea(BRCU),were very similar to those of the two specific-fertilizer treatments(SF),single basal of application of Nongke rice-specific fertilizer(BNRSF) and split application of Nongke rice-specific fertilizer(SNRSF).There was also no significant deference in plant height between treatments of the CRF and the SF.However, the application of CRFs had a markedly effect on dry matter yield(DMY) comparing to SF.At the primary growth stage,in comparison with SNRSF,BNCRF increased the DMY of both early and late crop significantly, while BRCU decreased DMY of both crop,BLCRF increased DMY in early crop but decreased in late crop, however, all the three CRFs significantly increased DMY at mature stage.Single application of the three CRFs could significantly increased productive panicles grains per panicle, but did not significantly(affected) grain weight. The grain yields of BNCRF,BLCRF and BRCU were 10.75%,15.81% and 15.91% higher than SNRSF in early crop, and 7.66%,4.76% and 14.05% higher in late crop, respectively. There was no significant difference in grain yield between the two SF treatments.
