Study on mechanisms of selenium accumulation in rice grains

  • A hydroponics experiment was conducted to investigate the diversity of selenium translocation between Xiushui48 and Bing9652 and the mechanisms of selenium accumulation in rice (Oryza Sativa L.) grains. The results showed that the Se concentration in rice roots decreased after the termination of Se supply. Se decreased more in the root of Xiushui 48 than Bing 9652 and Se in the root of Xiushui 48 was also more easily transported to other parts. Flag leaf is a functional leaf of rice, and Se content decreased in the whole rice life circle. Both the decrease of Se and Se concentration in flag leaf in Xiushui48 was higher than that of Bing 9652. The translocation of Se in flag leaf was beneficial to Se accumulation in rice grains.
