Effects of trunk injection of Mn on yield and quality of Ziziphus Jujuba cv. Huizao in Xinjiang

  • Trace element Mn plays an important role in plant development process. To understand the role of Mn in the growth process of Ziziphus Jujuba cv. Huizao, an experiment of trunk injection of Mn was carried out at the jujube budding, flowering and fruit expanding stages, and the tree body growth indices were measured. The results show that under the treated Mn injection amounts, the optimal tree body growth indices were obtained in the treatment 2 with Mn injection of 2.0 g/tree. Compared to control, the scapus number, base stem number, the highest flowering number, the weight of single fruit and date yield are increased by 26%, 33%, 19%, 38% and 19%, respectively, and the contents of Fe, Mn, Zn and Ca in the fruits increased by 47%, 20%, 22% and 13%, separately. The tree body growth indices are also promoted in other fertilizer treatments. In general, injecting proper amount of Mn at the sensitive stages for fruits can promote the growth of tree body and yield, enhance the nutritional quality of Ziziphus Jujuba cv. Huizao as well.
