Long-distance feedback regulation of mineral nutrients uptake in plant

  • The uptake of mineral nutrients in plant relies on coordinate regulation of local and long-distance feedback signaling pathways. Recent years, the former has been investigated comprehensively, while the knowledge about the latter is limited. Although the long-distance feedback regulation involved in mineral nutrients uptake is universal, its unclear whether feedback signals are positive or negative for regulation of nutrients uptake. Several molecules, including nutrients themselves or their metabolites, sugars, hormones, and microRNAs have been suggested function as the systemic feedback signals. However, little information is available on their target. The future research areas regarding of feedback regulation are suggested in the end.
