Abstract
Effects of controlled release N fertilizer application rate on seedling growth and nutrients uptake of transplanted maize were tested in this study. The results showed that healthy seedlings could be produced with proper controlled release N (CRN) used; N 200-400 mg/plant was a range of safe and maximum CRN application rates which improved seedling growth, meanwhile, N 137-290 mg/plant could be maintained in seedling medium at transplanting time. N concentration and N content of plant shoot increased with CRN application rate increase. No significant correlation was found between CRN application rate and P concentration or content. K uptake of plant was restrained by CRN application.
