Study on growth situation, photosynthetic characteristics and nutrient absorption characteristics of grafted cucumber seedlings

  • In this experiment, the four typs of grafted cucumber seedlings were obtained through with black seed pumpkin (Cuarbita ficifolia) and squash (Cucurbita pepo L ) as two rootstocks and with Jin You No 1 and Nong Cheng No 4 as two Scions The growth situation, photosynthetic characteristic and nutrient absorption characteristic of grafted cucumber seedlings and two auto root seedlings were studied The results showed that, comparing the grafted cucumber seedlings with auto root seedlings, the former demonstrated apparent advantages, which were as follows: the root fresh weight of grafted cucumber seedlings was heavier than that of auto root seedlings, the length of the longest side root longer, the development status of roots was better; the ratio of root to shoot was larger, the index of high quality seedlings was higher, the grafted seedlings was very robust; the chlorophyll content of leaves was higher, and the photosynthetic rate (Pn) was greater and the absorbing ability to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was more powerful
