Prospect of consumption of chemical fertilizer in China

  • The orientation of chemical fertilizer input has taken a great change since 1980 in China, following the development of national marketing economic and the adjustment of agricultural plantation structure The proportion of chemical fertilizer input on cash crops increased year by year, accounting for 43.0% of the total fertilizer consumption in 1998 The fertilized area of cash crops increased from 22.0%in 1980 to 31.8% in 1998, which did not included the fertilizer consumption on other industries such as forest, pasture and aquaculture According to this trend of development, it is necessary to re-envaluate the prospect of fertilizer consumption in the future
