Characteristics of Pb absorption and accumulation by tomato in acid yellow soil

  • A pot experiment was conducted to study the absorption and accumulation characteristics of tomato to lead (Pb) in acid yellow soil. The results showed that added Pb to soil with the rates of 0200mg/kg did not cause obvious adverse effects on tomato seedlings. Pb in the soil could easily be absorbed by tomato and accumulated in different parts. The Pb uptake increased with the Pb added in soil, and the Pb content in root of tomato was higher than that in stem, leaf and fruit, especially at high rate of Pb added. There was a higher accumulation rate (4.38%) of Pb in tomato in lower Pb content soil. The Pb content in tomato fruits might be over than the regulation of food limit, when the Pb (content) exceeded 50mg/kg in soil.
