Interactive effects of density and fertilizer on quality of high gluten spring wheat

  • An experiment to study the effect of increasing density and fertilizer on wheat in some regions Longmai-26 was used as material to study the interactive effect of density and fertilizer on quality of high gluten spring wheat in cold area. The result indicated that the interactive effect of density and fertilizer on the quality of wheat and flour was not significant, but the effect was significant on test weight and 1000-grain weight. Low density planting could improve 1000-grain weight, but decrease test weight. High fertilization could decrease both parameters, and optimum fertilization could improve the content of protein and wet gluten, fall sedimentation value and falling number. In conclusion, planting at 6–7.5 millions plants per hectare and applying 400kg fertilizer per hectare were best management practices, based on the results of this study.
