Effects of P fertilizer level on distribution of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn and brown rice qualities in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

  • In pot experiments at green house, effects of P fertilizer on distribution of Fe, Mn, Cu and Zn in shoot of rice and quality of brown rice were studied. The results were summarized as follows: under the condition of pot cultivation with silty loam soil, due to P fertilizer application, amount of Fe,Mn, Cu and Zn accumulated in shoot of IR68144 increased compare with control significantly, and their distribution in brown rice of two cultivars increased significantly. Moreover, amount of Fe,Mn, Cu and Zn accumulated in shoot of IR68144 was higher than that of IR64 at different P fertilizer application levels, which suggested that transportation ability of Fe,Mn, Cu and Zn from root to shoot in IR68144 is stronger than in IR64. Besides, P fertilizer promoted the accumulation of protein in brown rice of IR68144, decreased the accumulation of amylose, and enhanced gel consistency of brown rice, and scarcely any affected brown rice quality of IR64. Those results indicated that appropriate P fertilizer management increase micronutrients content in grains and improve nutrition quality of rice.
