Abstract:
Sandy culture was conducted to study the effect of organic manure on the root activities, phosphatase. respiration and kinetics of phosphorus absorption by wheat. The results showed that the combination use of organic manure and inorganic manure displayed significantly higher root vigor expressed by TTC oxidizing capability. The energy level indicated by ATPase activity and respiration rate could be enhanced by the application of organic manure. However, this effect in organic manure treatment occured only during the first 10 days, while during 40 days culture Period the combination use of organic manure could maitain relatively high energy level and root vigor which was closely associated with the absorption of phosphorus indicated by low Km. The roots in organic manure treatment also showed high phosphatase activity that played an important role in organic phosphorus absorption.
