Abstract
Strawberry is a kind of nutritious fruit with high economic value, but the growth of strawberry was inhibited by the continuous cropping obstacle, with the yield and the quality being decreased. There were various factors resulting in continuous cropping obstacle. In this paper, the effect of root exudates (RE) on strawberry growth was analyzed using tissue culture method. Results showed that RE inhibited the growth of strawberry plant, SOD activities, chlorophyll content and root activities, increased malondialdelyole (MDA) contents and relative permeability of cell membrane in leaves of rooting plants, and decreased the resistant ability of strawberry plants to disease. The greater concentration of RE in the medium, the more significant effect it had on the plants. It is concluded that RE of strawberry was one of the important factors inducing continuous cropping obstacle in strawberry.
