Influence of continuous application of two wild green manures of Macleaya(GMⅠ)and Quercu(GMⅡ) with high nitrogen content both in summer and autumn on growth and nutritional quality of pakchoi(Brassica chinensis L.)was studied using pot experiments. Compared with CK, shoot fresh weights are significantly increased with the application of mixture of the green manures with urea in summer, while compared with both CK and urea treatments, shoot fresh weights are significantly increased with the application of the GM I treatments in autumn. Yields of pakchoi in whole year are notably increased when mixture of the green manures with urea, and GMⅠused alone. Compared with urea and double green manure treatments, the nitrate contents of the eatable part of pakchoi are remarkably decreased for the green manures used alone and mixture of the green manures with urea treatments in the two seasons. All treatments with two green manures could increase vitamin C content in autumn. Soluble sugar contents are improved by the two green manures both in summer and autumn, and benefits are even better in autumn. In conclusion, compared with urea used alone, the two green manures could increase yield and enhance nutritional quality of pakchoi in autumn, and the GMⅠis found to be the best.
